Isotherm top-loading built-in fridge box BI40 is a 40-liter cooling model for horizontal installation in a boat, yacht, or other mobile setup. The top-loading design provides access to the contents from above and is suitable for installations where space needs to be utilized efficiently. This variant is intended for refrigeration and does not have a verified freezing function.
The cooling system is powered by a fan-cooled Secop BD35F compressor for 12/24 V DC. The power consumption is 6.0 A at 12 V and 3.0 A at 24 V, corresponding to an instantaneous power of 72 W. The average energy consumption is 270 Wh per 24 hours, measured at an internal temperature of +5 °C and an ambient temperature of +25 °C. A mechanical thermostat regulates the temperature on a scale from 1 to 7, and the recommended internal operating temperature for this cooling model is 5–6 °C.
The BI40 has a plastic base, removable internal baskets, and an L-shaped evaporator. The included lid is insulated and fitted with a gasket, while the visible surface, hinges, and handle are integrated into the specific installation. The hermetically sealed cooling system normally requires neither refrigerant refilling nor any other maintenance of the cooling circuit itself.
The housing dimensions are stated as 405 × 420 × 400 + 160 mm in the order of height × depth × length, where the addition refers to the compressor unit. The compressor can be moved within the reach of the supplied hoses. Always check the current 2D drawing and the unit's serial number before manufacturing a cutout or cabinet module, as measurement definitions and dimensions may vary between product revisions.
The unit must be mounted horizontally and secured with at least two attachment points. The compressor must stand with its rubber feet facing downwards and may work at a maximum inclination of 30°. The installation site must be dry, protected from rain and water splashes, and have sufficient ventilation around the compressor and condenser. A clearance of 20 mm is recommended on sides without the compressor and 50 mm on the compressor side. The unit must not be placed immediately next to gas or LPG cylinders.
The electrical installation must be routed directly to the battery or a suitable main switch and protected with a 15 A fuse at 12 V or 7.5 A at 24 V. The recommended minimum cable size is 2.5 mm² up to 2.5 m at 12 V or 5 m at 24 V, 4 mm² up to 4/8 m, 6 mm² up to 6/12 m, and 10 mm² up to 10/20 m. The built-in low-voltage protection disconnects by default at 9.6 V on a 12 V system and 21.3 V on a 24 V system.
During normal use, the box should be turned on approximately six hours before food is placed inside. The evaporator should be defrosted when the layer of frost is approximately 3–4 mm thick, without the use of sharp objects. During longer periods of inactivity, the box should be defrosted, dried, and disconnected, while the lid is left in the ventilation position. The condenser should be cleaned of dust seasonally using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.
