This u-joint bellows for MerCruiser sterndrives is an aftermarket replacement part for the Alpha One Gen II. It cross-references to OEM no. 816431A1 and is used around the universal joint in the drive's bell housing/transom assembly.
The flexible, ribbed bellows shields the universal joint and drivetrain, preventing water from entering through the bell housing. The bellows is therefore a driveshaft bellows and must not be confused with the drive's separate exhaust bellows or shift cable bellows.
