Heaving line weight designed as a blue monkey's fist with a product weight of 300 g. It is used as a weighted end piece or connection for a heaving line when performing manual line throws.
The lead core provides the necessary weight for the throw, allowing a thin heaving line to be passed between a vessel and shore or between vessels. The heaving line can subsequently be used to pull over a heavier line or hawser.
The monkey's fist is made of blue braided nylon around a solid lead core. The rope used has a diameter of 8 mm, and the construction features an integrated eyelet for connection to the heaving line.
The product is a manual throwing weight with no mechanical, pneumatic, or pyrotechnic launching mechanism. It is supplied as a single throwing weight; a complete heaving line of documented length is not included.
