This product is a self-inflating MOB rescue system with lifebuoy and dan buoy from the Leonsports Life Dan Buoy series. The system is designed for the rapid marking, support, and recovery of a person who has fallen overboard. The integrated lifebuoy has 275 N of buoyancy, providing the person in the water with a clear and stable hold point.
The system is stored compactly in a robust, waterproof ABS case, which mounts onto pulpit or rail tubes with a diameter of 25 mm. Three mounting brackets are included. In an MOB situation, the case is opened and the system is thrown into the water, where it inflates automatically. The case features a hinge designed to open upon inflation. The system measures 290 × 230 × 125 mm when closed and weighs 4.8 kg.
After inflation, the built-in 260 cm marker pole provides high visibility, with approximately 2.0 m of the system standing above the water surface. An emergency light and SOLAS reflective tape make it easier to locate the person, while a sea anchor and an integrated 2.5 kg lead weight stabilize the system in the water.
The person in the water can hold onto the lifebuoy and place the red recovery strap around their torso under the armpits. The strap is secured with the carabiner and can be used to pull the person back to the boat. If the person cannot board the boat on their own, suitable lifting gear must be used.
The inflation system uses a UML-5 Auto/Manual inflator and a 60 g CO₂ cylinder. The status of the inflator can be checked through the case's inspection window: a green indicator shows a correct and unused status, while a red indicator shows that the mechanism has been triggered or is not installed correctly. An oral valve allows for leak testing and controlled deflation of the system before repacking.
The system must be checked after use and serviced professionally at least every two years. During the periodic check, it is inflated orally and left inflated overnight to check for airtightness. The product must be completely dry before rearming and repacking. Textile parts should be cleaned with fresh water and a damp cloth and air-dried without direct heat; bleach, fabric softener, dry cleaning, and tumble drying must not be used. The product is covered by a five-year Leonsports warranty against material and manufacturing defects under normal use and proper maintenance.
The direct family-specific recharge kit has item no. 22.397.60 and contains a 60 g CO₂ cylinder and a UML-5 mechanism. The general service kit with item no. 22.294.01 is also documented for 275 N MOB and Dan Buoy systems with a 60 g cylinder and UML-5.
