This Littelfuse 2-pole battery disconnect switch with key is a manual DPST switch for 12/24 V DC systems. Model 08084300 disconnects two electrical circuits simultaneously and is particularly well-suited for marine installations, including metal-hulled boats.
The battery switch is rated for 250 A and can handle an intermittent current of 1000 A for 10 seconds. The normal continuous operating current is 100 A, while the maximum continuous current is 250 A for up to 4 hours. The maximum voltage drop is 200 mV at 250 A, and the insulation resistance is at least 10 MΩ.
Connection is made via four rear-mounted M10 × 1.5 main terminals with silver-plated copper contacts. The terminal nuts are made of nickel-plated brass, and the recommended tightening torque for the main terminals is 18 ±4 Nm. The documented installation recommendation is four cable connections of at least 70 mm²; the final cable sizing must be adapted to the load, cable length, temperature, and installation requirements.
The red T-handle can be configured as fixed or removable by rotating the insert on the top of the handle 180°. A safety button must be activated during operation, and the contacts are opened or closed with a 90° turn. The handle can be locked in the ON, OFF, or parking position with a padlock with a 4.2–4.5 mm shackle diameter. Padlock not included.
The housing and operating parts are made of temperature- and chemical-resistant thermoplastic materials. The entire unit has an IP67 and IP69K/IPX9K protection rating, while the key entry is rated IP65. The operating temperature is −40 °C to +85 °C. When the handle is removed, the attached rubber cap must be placed over the opening to protect against water ingress.
The switch is mounted through a central hole of Ø32 ±0.3 mm and secured via the flange with two Ø8.5 ±0.2 mm fixing holes. The flange measures 140.3 × 74.7 mm, the rear body 83.8 × 83.8 mm, and the total depth is 138.5 mm. The protrusion in front of the mounting plane is 61.5 mm, while the installation depth behind the plane is 77 mm. The mechanical and electrical life is 5,000 cycles.
