This remotely operated bistable battery switch from Littelfuse is designed for remote switching of the battery connection in 12/24 V DC systems. The single-pole SPST contact is rated for 250 A continuous current, 1,000 A cranking current for 30 seconds, and a short-term peak current of 2,000 A for 5 seconds.
The bistable, magnetic latching principle means that the switch is only electrically energized when toggling between ON and OFF. It therefore requires no continuous holding current to maintain the switching state. The electronic quiescent current is 0.6 mA at both 12 and 24 V, and a valid ON or OFF pulse must last more than 100 ms.
The switch features M10 power terminals with nickel-plated brass terminal hardware and silver-plated copper power contacts. The recommended total cable cross-section is at least 90 mm² per M10 terminal, and the maximum tightening torque for the terminals is 19 Nm. Control is connected via an integrated 4-pin DIN connector: C1 is used for ON, C2 for OFF, C3 for ground, while C4 is not used.
The black housing is made of plastic and thermoset material. The IP67 rating assumes that all sealing parts are correctly installed on both the connector and the wires. The switch can be used at temperatures from -40 °C to +85 °C and has a verified operating range of 10-32 V at 23 °C.
The product measures 162 × 84 mm and is mounted via four attachment points with a hole spacing of 84 × 60 mm. Four M6 bolts are used, and the tightening torque for the M6 nuts is 6 ± 2 Nm. The unit can be mounted in any orientation except with the M10 terminals pointing downwards. During installation, the switch should be placed as close to the battery as possible, and the cable length to the battery terminal should be less than 0.5 m.
The switch is suitable for marine installations as well as electrical systems in heavy vehicles, buses, construction machinery, and agricultural machinery. The optional plug and connector kit with item no. 14.383.50 can be used for the installation.
