This Marco EMH-2 multifunctional electronic horn with 2 waterproof speakers is a complete 12 V DC system for acoustic signaling, warning, and loudspeaker communication on pleasure craft, tourist and passenger boats, ferries, as well as rescue, patrol, and service vessels. The set consists of two waterproof speaker units, an electronic control unit, AISI 316 stainless steel brackets, and a handheld microphone with a coiled cable.
The system combines a manual horn, two automatic fog signal functions, a microphone-based PA function, and four selectable emergency siren tones. The automatic fog signal cycle lasts 75 seconds and includes a 5-second horn blast. Additionally, custom sequences can be programmed with up to eight short or long pulses of 2 and 5 seconds, respectively. The manual horn function has priority over the other functions and may be activated continuously for up to 5 seconds.
A balanced VHF/mono AUX input can receive signals from, among others, VHF, radio, CD, and MP3 equipment at an input level of 200 mV to 3 V RMS. The stereo input supports both 3- and 4-wire connections and reproduces stereo sound through the two speakers. Separate trimmers allow for adjusting the microphone gain, VHF or left stereo channel, and right stereo channel.
The horn operates at 800 Hz and delivers a sound pressure of 115 dB at 1 meter, measured in 1/3 octave. The electrical output power is 20 W, the speaker impedance is 8 Ω per unit, and the maximum current consumption is 1.5 A. The system has IP66 protection, and a recommended 3.15 A fast-acting fuse can be used during installation and troubleshooting.
Each speaker unit measures 121 × 154 × 132 mm and is supplied with a 0.5 m factory-fitted tinned cable with two 0.75 mm² conductors. The cable must not be replaced, and the speaker driver must not be opened, as this may affect the seal. Further wiring is carried out via a suitable junction box. The speakers are mounted at a slight downward angle so that water does not collect in the horn flare, and they must be connected in the correct phase.
The functions can be activated directly via the control unit's terminals or with a compatible control panel. Control panel connection is performed with an 8-pin, straight-through RJ45 cable. The system meets EN 60945:2002-10 and has EMC compliance in accordance with EU Directive 2014/30/EU.
Spare parts and accessories
The variant-specific electronic control unit for the 12 V version has spare part no. R3600009. The acoustic spare unit R3600001 is designed for 8 Ω and 20 W, while microphone R5000018 can be used as a replacement microphone. The microphone with item no. 21.433.37 and the additional control panel with item no. 21.432.00 are also documented for the EMH-2. The Marco SB-UV control panel, item no. 13702015, can be connected via RJ45 and transmit horn, fog signal, and AUX functions.
