This multifunctional electronic horn with 2 waterproof speakers is the MARCO EMH-2 in the 24 V version. The system combines a manual horn, automatic fog signals, a microphone with hailer function, audio inputs, and selectable emergency sirens. It is suitable for, among others, tourist and passenger boats, port services, as well as police, fire, and rescue operations.
The system delivers an 800 Hz signal with a sound pressure level of 115 dB at 1 m. The electrical output power is 20 W, and each speaker unit has an impedance of 8 Ω. The power consumption is max. 1 A at 24 V DC, and the system uses a 3.15 A fast-acting fuse.
The two IP66-rated speakers can be used for horn signals, fog signals, sirens, microphone, and external audio sources. The system has AUX functions for VHF and stereo, and the balanced input accepts a signal level of 200 mV to 3 V RMS. Stereo can be connected with three or four wires, while the left channel, right channel, and microphone gain can be adjusted separately.
The automatic fog signal operates in a 75-second cycle with a signal duration of 5 seconds. Signal patterns can be programmed with up to eight short or long pulses, where a short pulse lasts 2 seconds and a long pulse 5 seconds. The manual horn function has priority over the other functions, and a continuously manually activated tone is limited to 5 seconds. Four emergency siren patterns can be selected, including signals for police, fire department, and ambulance.
Each speaker unit measures 154 mm in length, 121 mm in height, and 132 mm in depth. The included brackets are made of AISI 316 stainless steel. Each speaker is factory-wired with 0.5 m of tinned 2 × 0.75 mm² cable and must be mounted angled slightly downwards so that water does not collect in the horn cone. The speakers must be connected in the correct phase, and further wiring must be carried out via a suitable junction box or terminal box.
Delivery includes two speakers, electronic control unit, microphone, and stainless steel brackets. The system complies with EN 60945:2002-10 and EU Directive 2014/30/EU regarding electromagnetic compatibility. It is not specified as a type-approved COLREG horn for a specific vessel length.
