MARCO electronic ship's horn with amplifier in the EW2 series, model EW2-MS, is a complete 24 V DC sound signaling system with siren for pleasure craft and fishing vessels of 12–20 m. The system delivers a sound level of over 120 dB at 1 m and is RINA type-approved for the specified area of application.
The system consists of a horn module, electronic control unit, flush-mountable SB-UV membrane control panel, microphone, and mounting kit. The built-in class AB voice amplifier makes it possible to broadcast voice messages via the horn, while the VHF/AUX input can receive an external audio signal. The manual horn signal has priority over all other functions, including the microphone.
The automatic fog signal has two programmable functions and a selectable repetition interval of 60 or 90 seconds. The standard signal lasts 5 seconds, and a user-customized signal can be programmed with up to eight short or long tones. Short tones last 2 seconds, while long tones last 5 seconds. The system also has an ultrasonic heating function for the acoustic membrane.
The horn operates at a fundamental frequency of 690 Hz and has a maximum power consumption of 1.5 A. The horn module is connected to the control unit with only two horn wires. The driver unit is supplied with a 1 m tinned cable of 2 × 1.5 mm², which must be terminated in a suitable junction box and must not be replaced. The control panel is connected with a straight, uncrossed 8-pin RJ45 cable with pin-to-pin connection.
The horn module measures 250 × 239 × 260 mm in length, width, and height and is mounted on the included mirror-polished stainless steel bracket. The horn bell must be mounted with a slight downward inclination so that water can drain out. The electronic control unit measures 214 × 87 × 164 mm. The included IP67-rated SB-UV panel measures 80 × 80 × 45 mm and requires a cutout of Ø70 mm. The horn module itself is also IP67-rated.
The system complies with COLREG 1972 and IMO Class IV as well as the NMMA ABYC A-23 and EN 60945:2002 standards. Approvals include RINA, Lloyd’s Register/MCA, Bureau Veritas, NMMA, and BSH. The manufacturer part number for this 24 V variant is 15004413.

Documented spare parts include 24 V control unit R5000042, acoustic unit R5000015, microphone kit R5000018, and the RJ45 cables R5000038 of 5 m, R5000039 of 10 m, and R5000037 of 20 m. An additional control panel with item no. 21.432.00 can be used for an additional control station, while item no. 21.433.36 is a MIC2 standard microphone for type-approved EW horns.
