Marco EW3-M electronic ship horn with amplifier and fog signal is a complete 24 V DC sound signaling system for yachts, fishing vessels, and workboats with a length of 20–75 m. The system is type-approved according to COLREG 1972 and IMO Class III and provides a sound level of over 130 dB at 1 m.
The EW3-M combines an electronic ship horn, automatic fog signal, and a Class AB speech amplifier. The system has VHF/aux input and microphone input, and a microphone is included. Ultrasonic heating of the acoustic membrane contributes to stable operation and acoustic performance in maritime conditions.
The automatic fog signal can be set to repeat at 60 or 90-second intervals. The standard signal lasts approximately 5 seconds and can be replaced by a user-defined sequence with up to eight short or long signal pulses. An external push-button can be used for manual activation, and the manual tone has priority over the system's other functions.
The kit consists of a speaker unit, electronic controller, SB-UV control panel, microphone, and mounting kit. The speaker measures Ø325 × 437 × 351 mm, while the controller measures 168 × 210 × 87 mm. The control panel measures approximately 80 × 80 × 45 mm and requires an installation hole of Ø70 mm.
The speaker unit and the SB-UV control panel are IP67-rated. The driver is supplied with a 1.5 m tinned cable of 2 × 1.5 mm², which must be terminated in a suitable junction box. The controller has an 8-pole terminal block, while the control panel communicates with the system via RJ45. The speaker must be mounted with a slight downward tilt so that water does not collect in the horn funnel.
Approvals include RINA type approval, Lloyd’s Register MCA, Bureau Veritas, NMMA, BSH, and NMMA ABYC A-23. An additional control panel with item no. 21.432.00 can be used for operation from an additional steering station. The MIC2 microphone with item no. 21.433.36 is documented for the EW system.
