MARCO EW3 electronic horn with amplifier for vessels 20–75 m, model EW3-MS, is a complete 24 V DC system for acoustic signaling, automatic fog signals, voice announcements, and sirens. The system is designed for pleasure craft as well as commercial and fishing vessels with a length of 20–75 m.
The horn delivers a sound pressure level of over 130 dB at 1 m and has a signal frequency of 698 Hz. The manual horn switch has priority over the system's other functions, including the microphone. Two automatic fog signals can be set with intervals of 60 or 90 seconds. The standard signal lasts 5 seconds and can be replaced by a user-defined signal recording or tone.
The system includes a voice amplifier, microphone input, included microphone, VHF input, and a dedicated siren function. The ultrasonic heating system supports the function of the acoustic membrane, while the SB-UV membrane control panel provides access to the horn's central functions.
The horn unit measures Ø325 × 437 × 351 mm, while the electronic control unit measures 168 × 210 × 87 mm. The separate control panel measures 80 × 80 × 46 mm. The horn unit and the SB-UV control panel are IP67-rated; there is no single common IP rating specified for all system components.
The driver unit is supplied with 1.5 m of factory-fitted tinned cable of 2 × 1.5 mm². The cable must be terminated in a suitable junction box or terminal block and must not be replaced. The horn unit must be mounted with a slight downward tilt so that water does not collect in the horn flare. The control unit has a marked 8-pin terminal block, and a mounting kit is included.
The EW3-MS complies with COLREG 1972 and is classified as IMO Class III. Approvals include RINA, Lloyd’s Register MCA, Bureau Veritas, NMMA, and BSH, as well as the standard reference NMMA ABYC A-23. The manufacturer part number is 15206413, also stated as 152 064 13.
