Mase IS soundproofed marine diesel generator model IS 3.5 is a single-phase generator set for fixed installation on board boats and yachts. The generator delivers up to 3.0 kW at 115/230 V AC and 50 Hz, while the continuous power is 2.7 kW. It is powered by a single-cylinder Yanmar L70N 4-stroke diesel engine with direct injection and a speed of 3000 rpm.
The synchronous, 2-pole and brushless alternator is self-excited and equipped with capacitors. The rotor and stator are epoxy-coated as protection against external influences, and the rotor is dynamically balanced. The alternator has insulation class H, a voltage stability of ±10%, a frequency stability of ±5%, and protection against excessive winding temperature.
The air/water cooling system uses an air/seawater heat exchanger to cool the air inside the generator. The system supports a stable operating temperature, even when the unit is installed in a hot or confined technical room. The generator's cooling does not require separate ventilation fans, but the installation must still ensure the necessary air supply for the diesel engine's combustion. The seawater intake is Ø16 mm, the wet exhaust is Ø45 mm, and the fuel feed and return lines are Ø8 mm.
The soundproofed enclosure consists of a self-supporting frame made of aluminum profiles and coated panels in marine-grade aluminum EN AW-5754. The enclosure provides access to the fuel system, lubrication system, seawater pump, and air filter for servicing. A dual vibration damping system reduces vibrations first between the engine, alternator, and frame, and then remaining micro-vibrations between the frame and the vessel. Integrated mounting brackets facilitate fixed installation on board.
The generator measures 590 × 406 × 515 mm and has a dry weight of 96 kg with the soundproofing enclosure. The noise level is 54 dBA at 7 m. The engine has a displacement of 320 cm³, a maximum power of 6.1 hp at 3000 rpm, and a fuel consumption of 1.3 l/h at full load. The electrical starting system is 12 V and is specified for a 45 Ah starter battery.
Safety features include automatic shutdown in case of low oil pressure as well as excessive engine or exhaust temperature. Additionally, there is protection against high alternator temperature, thermal protection, and an emergency stop. The oil and fuel filters are positioned for easy replacement, and the integrated oil drain pump simplifies oil service.
