The MASE VS.3 soundproof variable speed marine diesel generator, model VS 12.5, is designed for single-phase power generation in fixed installations on board pleasure craft and other marine applications. The generator provides 12 kW of continuous power at 230–240 V and 50–60 Hz and is powered by a three-cylinder Kubota D902 diesel engine.
Electronic control adjusts the engine speed between 2100 and 3150 rpm based on the current power demand. The generator thus produces only the necessary power, reducing unnecessary fuel consumption and emissions. The single-phase permanent magnet alternator has insulation class H, a power factor of cos φ 1, and voltage and frequency stability of ±1%.
The air/water cooling uses separate heat exchangers. The engine is cooled via a closed coolant circuit with a seawater/coolant heat exchanger, while the air around the alternator is cooled through a seawater/air heat exchanger. This design helps keep both the engine and alternator at a stable operating temperature, even when the temperature in the installation compartment varies. The seawater intake is Ø16 mm, and the water pump flow rate is 22 l/min.
The Kubota D902 engine is a four-stroke diesel engine with indirect injection, 898 cm³ displacement, and a 12 V electric starting system. It features an electric fuel pump, pressure lubrication, and an oil capacity of 3.8 liters including the filter. Service points such as the oil and fuel filters, seawater pump, air filter, and lubrication system are positioned for easy access, and the integrated oil drain pump facilitates oil changes.
The safety system automatically stops the generator in the event of low oil pressure or excessive engine or exhaust gas temperatures. The soundproof enclosure consists of coated marine aluminum panels and provides access to internal components, allowing maintenance to be performed even when the generator is installed in limited spaces. A double vibration damping system reduces the transmission of vibrations from the engine and alternator to the vessel.
The generator measures 730 × 469 × 555 mm and has a dry weight of 185 kg. Integrated mounting brackets in the base support fixed installation. The InteliNanoNT MRS 3 control unit measures 118 × 118 mm and has an IP65 rating, while the generator set itself is rated IP23.
