The larger “CT” gearbox provides better lift for heavier hulls and not only gets the boat on level ground faster, but also provides better lift overall, resulting in less water resistance and lower fuel consumption. With a gear ratio of 2.38:1, the engine also revs faster, quickly reaching higher and maximum torque.

Heavy Duty
The large gearbox, combined with a 2.38:1 gear ratio and Mercury's extensive range of outboard propellers is the perfect combination for pontoon boats, larger/heavier fiberglass or aluminum boats for fishing or pleasure boating, and heavy-duty commercial use.

Although it is a traditional engine design, the fuel economy is one of the best in its class, the weight of 163 kg does not get lighter.
All models are compatible with SmartCraft digital instrumentation, and come with a SmartCraft SC1000 tachometer and Spitfire 4-blade aluminum propellers.
As of March 2020, this engine ships from the factory with VesselView Mobile.
This means you always know the latest Bluetooth download of data about the status of your engine, whether you are sitting at home on the couch, or on the water with friends and family. Furthermore, you get a full overview of fuel economy, performance and can of course choose to share your data directly on social media.
