Exceeding the limits of reliability
The task for our engineers was: Design and build the industry’s most reliable 150 hp 4-stroke outboard. To do this, they started with a powerful 3.0-liter block capable of generating more than 250 hp, but deliberately tuned it to only deliver 150 hp. In doing so, they significantly increased the long-term durability of the block.

Then they added a robust transmission with the largest displacement in its class, nearly 10,000 hours of product development and testing, and finished it off with an industry-leading factory warranty of up to 5 years.

In addition, the engine's small, compact design means it fits a wide range of boat types. All this – and it weighs just 206 kg!

Perfect for replacing the old engine
The compact, lightweight design means that Mercury's 150 hp 4-stroke outboard can be mounted on boats with limited transom space. With a boat on a trailer, every pound saved is an advantage during transport. The 150 hp 4-stroke is flexible enough to support both mechanical and hydraulic steering, mechanical control/cable systems and a wide range of other instruments.

Avoid stress
Less work, more performance. Sounds good, right? That's the key to Mercury's 150 hp 4-stroke. With a 3.0-liter displacement, 4 cylinders and single overhead camshaft, it works less than other engines to produce more torque and horsepower. That means exceptional durability and years of worry-free boating.

Lightweight engine block
Larger displacement typically equals higher weight. However, this is not the case with the Mercury 150 4-stroke. It is the lightest engine in its class. Therefore, the engine is often the preferred alternative both when replacing with a newer engine and when installing on a completely new boat.

Less time on service
It’s not just the engine cover that makes the 150 hp 4-stroke outboard look good. Under the cover, everything is designed for easy access to perform basic service and maintenance. In addition, it offers “spill-proof” oil changes, easy access to the fuel filter and maintenance-free valves. All of this helps to make the 150 hp 4-stroke one of the easiest-to-maintain outboards on the market.
