This Oceansouth aft sun shade with telescopic poles extends the shaded area aft of an existing T-top, hardtop, or flybridge roof. The navy blue version measures 260 cm in length, 230 cm at the trailing edge, and 200 cm at the leading edge, giving the deployed canvas a trapezoidal shape.
The kit includes two stainless steel telescopic poles with an adjustable length range of 1.3–2.0 m. The poles have a diameter of 1¼″, equivalent to approx. 32 mm, and are inserted into the boat's existing aft-mounted rod holders. The height can thus be adjusted for both sitting and standing under the sun shade.
The sun shade is made of 100% polyester ATLAS marine fabric with a PU coating and a fabric weight of 310 g/m². The fabric is waterproof with a water column of at least 1,500 mm, UV-resistant, breathable, and rated at UPF 50+. The material also has good tear and abrasion resistance as well as resistance to mold and mildew.
Installation requires no drilling or tools. The telescopic poles are placed in the rod holders, the front adjustable straps are attached to the T-top or hardtop frame, and the long aft straps are led to existing cleats or railings. All straps are tightened until the canvas is correctly positioned and tensioned.
The angle of the rod holders affects the practical placement and reach of the sun shade. It is therefore recommended to test-place the telescopic poles in the boat's rod holders before choosing the size. The sun shade can be mounted and removed on the water, folded for storage, and used deployed at speeds of up to 20 knots.
