This Oceansouth blue hatch cover for Lewmar Low/Medium Profile hatches is a custom-fitted, external protective cover in size 54. It fits a rectangular Lewmar Low Profile deck hatch with external dimensions of 462 × 577 mm.
The cover is made of blue ATLAS fabric with a material weight of 310 g/m². The fabric consists of 100% solution-dyed polyester with UV inhibitors and has a water-repellent, breathable, and weather-resistant surface. The construction protects the hatch from direct sunlight, UV exposure, salt, and soiling, while the breathability helps limit the accumulation of condensation under the cover. The material is also resistant to mold and mildew.
Double-folded seams contribute to a robust construction. The cover is secured around the hatch frame with an elasticized hem and a drawcord with a locking toggle. The edge is stretched around the hatch and positioned snugly under the frame. The design allows the cover to remain in place whether the hatch is open or closed.
When installing, the cover is first guided around the rear edge of the hatch, after which the elasticized hem is stretched forward over the hatch and positioned under the frame. The cover is custom-fitted for Lewmar hatches; for other hatch brands or hatches with externally mounted hinges, a suitable universal cover should be used.
Rinse the cover with fresh water after exposure to saltwater, and regularly remove accumulated salt and dirt. Mild soap can be used as needed. Allow the fabric to dry completely before long-term storage, check the drawcord and seams regularly, and avoid aggressive chemical cleaning agents.
