This front T-top shade extension from Oceansouth is a detachable shade extender for mounting at the front of an existing T-top. The navy blue version measures 200 × 275 cm and expands the covered area over the boat's bow, foredeck, or front seating area.
The sun shade is made of ATLAS™ polyester fabric with a surface weight of 220 g/m². The fabric consists of 100% dope-dyed polyester with a PU coating and is waterproof, UV-resistant, and breathable. The water column is at least 1,500 mm, while the UV protection is rated at UPF 50+ with a measured value above UPF 80.
When mounting, the shade is connected to the front of the T-top and tensioned forward toward suitable attachment points at the bow, such as cleats, railings, or other appropriate fittings. Before selection and mounting, the width at the T-top, the distance to the attachment points, and the desired coverage length should be checked. Consideration should also be given to the console, windscreen, railing, anchor well, and navigation equipment.
The longitudinal length from the T-top toward the bow is 200 cm, and the width across the boat is 275 cm. The shade creates cover over the front area of the boat and helps protect seats, cushions, and upholstery from direct sun and UV exposure. It can be folded for compact storage.
The ATLAS fabric has a light and weather fastness grade of 6–7, chlorine resistance grade 4–5, water repellency grade 100, and oil repellency grade 4. The tensile strength is approximately 2,200 N and 1,400 N in the two test directions, while the associated elongation is approximately 40% and 30%.
