This tailored outboard motor cover for Mercury from Oceansouth is a white, ventilated model for Mercury 4.6L V8 4-stroke engines from model year 2018 onwards. The cover is custom-fitted to the engine cowling and covers the engine head without enclosing the midsection or gear case.
Integrated ventilation vents and precise cutouts around the engine's air intakes, as well as tilt and trim buttons, allow the motor cover to remain in place during sailing and engine operation. The tight, model-specific fit minimizes wind resistance and flapping at speed, while the airflow reduces moisture accumulation.
The motor cover is made from 340 g/m² ATLAS Marine Grade fabric in 100% dope-dyed polyester with a PU coating. The fabric is breathable, tear-resistant, water-repellent, and UV-resistant. It has a proven water column of at least 1,500 mm, light and weather fastness of 6–7, and UPF 50+ with a measured UV protection factor exceeding UPF 80.
The construction includes double-stitched, reinforced seams and a soft felt lining that protects the original engine cowling against scratches and scuffs. The cover fits directly over the engine head and is secured with an elastic marine hem and a dual buckle cord lock. It protects against sun, water, salt, dirt, and debris, both during use and storage outdoors.
The variant fits the Mercury V8 4.6L from 250–450 hp as well as documented Pro XS models from 200–300 hp from 2018 and later. The manufacturer part number is M000-VW. The black ventilated version for the same engine fitment is available under item no. 46.540.35.
Clean the cover with a soft brush, lukewarm water, and mild soap if necessary. Avoid harsh detergents and chemical cleaning agents, and allow the material to air dry. The cover should be completely clean and dry before long-term storage.
