This Oceansouth square hatch cover in the MA 400 series protects square deck hatches and boat hatches against sun and weather exposure. Model MA 400-6 has external dimensions of 700 x 700 mm and is suitable for use on sailboats, among others.
The cover is made of blue ATLAS GOLDEN RANGE fabric in 100% solution-dyed polyester with a surface weight of 400 g/m² and a PU coating. The material is UV-resistant, water-repellent, and breathable. The breathability limits the accumulation of condensation under the cover, while the UV protection reduces sun exposure to the hatch.
A peripheral drawstring with a Sure-lock cord lock provides a windproof attachment around the hatch. The construction makes it possible to leave the cover in place around the hatch when it is opened and keep it secured when the hatch is closed.
The ATLAS material has a water column of at least 150 mbar, equivalent to 1,500 mm. The fabric has a light and weather resistance rating of 6-7, chlorine resistance of 4-5, water repellency of 100, and oil repellency of 4. The tensile strength is approximately 2,200 N and 1,400 N in the two directions of the material, while the elongation is approximately 40% and 30%.
The material's UV protection factor is classified as UPF 50+, and the measured value is over UPF 80. The specified 700 x 700 mm are the external product dimensions of the cover and not a documented opening or frame dimension for the hatch.
