This Oceansouth T-Top Shade Extension is a removable extension kit that expands the existing shade area towards the stern of the boat. The navy blue version has a width of 182 cm at the rear and an extension length of 152 cm.
The shade panel is tapered and measures 132 cm in width at the T-Top. It is made from 220 g/m² ATLAS polyester with a PU coating and is developed for marine use. The fabric is waterproof, UV-resistant, and breathable, as well as resistant to mildew and mold. The UV protection is rated at UPF 50+ with a measured value above UPF 80, while the water column is at least 150 mbar / 1,500 mm.
The textile has a light and weather fastness rating of 6–7, a chlorine resistance rating of 4–5, water repellency of 100, and oil repellency of 4. The tensile strength is approximately 2,200 N in one material direction and 1,400 N in the other, with an elongation of approximately 40% and 30%, respectively.
The kit consists of a shade panel, two telescopic stainless steel poles, and polyester straps. The poles and the adjustable angle mechanism allow for adjustment of the canopy's height and angle. The construction is designed to limit wind flap and can be easily removed and stored away after use.
Installation requires neither drilling nor tools. The telescopic poles are inserted into two existing rod holders with an angle of approximately 75–90°, while the straps are attached to a suitable crossbar or another secure point on the T-Top or hardtop frame. Setup can be completed in under two minutes, even while the boat is on the water. Rod holders are not included.
The shade extension is intended for practical use at around 20 knots; this is a usage guideline and not a certified maximum speed. The product comes with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty. If the boat lacks suitable rod holders, separate accessories are available, such as Oceansouth 21153 for 32 mm tubes, 21152 for 44 mm tubes, as well as the adjustable MA 190 and MA 191 holders for various tube diameters.
