This Oceansouth T-top sunshade with telescopic poles is a removable shade extension for an existing T-top, hardtop, or flying bridge superstructure. The white MA 045-3 variant has the official A/B/C dimensions of 180/150/120 cm and provides coverage over the boat's aft area.
The two telescopic poles are made of stainless steel and can be adjusted from 1.3 to 2.0 m. The poles are inserted into the boat's existing aft-mounted rod holders, while the canopy is tensioned forward toward the roof frame and aft toward the boat's stern cleats. When the necessary rod holders and attachment points are already present, the system can be mounted without drilling or tools.
The canopy is made of 100% polyester in ATLAS Marine Grade Fabric with a PU coating and a surface weight of 310 g/m². The fabric is waterproof with a water column of at least 1,500 mm (equivalent to 150 mbar), while remaining breathable. It is UV-resistant and rated UPF 50+, with a measured protection value above UPF 80.
The ATLAS fabric is resistant to tearing, abrasion, mold, and mildew. The tensile strength is approximately 2,200/1,400 N depending on the direction, and the light and weather fastness is rated at 6–7. The construction can be used while underway at speeds of up to 20 knots.
The delivery includes the fabric canopy, two telescopic poles, four hand screws, four adjustment fittings, as well as short and long webbing straps. During installation, the short straps are attached between the canopy and the upper fittings, while the long straps are routed from the lower fittings to the stern cleats. The pole height and strap tension are adjusted until the canopy is correctly tensioned.
The sunshade is removable and can be folded or collapsed compactly when not in use. Compatibility depends on the position and angle of the rod holders as well as suitable attachment points on the roof frame and aft deck.
