This survival kit for inflatable leisure boats in accordance with Italian D.M. 17.09.2024 is assembled for private use in Italy. It is intended for CE-marked inflatable craft, including rigid-hulled craft, in design category A, B or C, which comply with UNI EN ISO 6185 parts 3 and 4.
When navigating within 12 nautical miles of the Italian coast, the kit may be used in place of a self-inflating life raft when all conditions of Decreto 17 settembre 2024, n. 133 are met. Vessels using this exemption must also carry an additional fire extinguisher.
The equipment is supplied in a waterproof bag with retroreflective tape. The bag measures 50 × 27 × 18 cm and contains a GP 5 foot pump, floating knife, 30 m floating throwing line, underwater torch with SOS strobe, bailer, repair kit, two sponges, whistle, sea anchor, and standard water ration. The two included oars are stored outside the bag so they can be kept ready for use.
The included water ration consists of 3 × 500 ml, totaling 1.5 litres for six people. For more than six people, one extra 500 ml water ration, item no. 22.705.05, must be added for every two additional people on board.
The underwater torch has a white LED, steady light, and SOS strobe. It delivers 240 lumens, is rated IPX8, and is waterproof down to 30 m. The 30 m throwing line has a diameter of 8 mm, a breaking strength of 400 kg, and is type-approved. The whistle complies with COLREG 72, while the sea anchor has a mouth diameter of 60 cm and is recommended for boats up to 6 m.
The repair kit is intended for inflatable boats made of neoprene or rubber material and contains patches, special rubber adhesive, sandpaper, finger protector, and instructions. The foot pump has a capacity of 5 litres, a maximum pressure of 400 mbar, and an adapter for most valve types. The two-piece oars are 167 cm long and have shafts made of silver-anodized aluminium and impact-resistant plastic blades.
