This Polastorm Saltist stainless steel propeller for Volvo SX/Cobra SX is a 3-blade, left-hand rotation propeller for single-propeller installations. The variant has a diameter of 14 3/4", a pitch of 17", and left-hand rotation, also designated as L or LH.
The propeller is manufactured from duplex stainless steel according to ASTM A890 Grade 4A. The material combines high physical strength with corrosion resistance, while solution heat treatment is part of the production process for the stainless steel propellers. The high chromium content contributes to corrosion resistance, and the copper content contributes to acid resistance.
Manufacturing is carried out using APC – Aerospace Precision Casting, a precision casting process developed to provide high material density and strength. The technical reference values of the material include a tensile strength of 680 MPa, a yield strength of 450 MPa, an elongation at break of 25%, and a hardness of 26 HRC.
The propeller geometry is 14 3/4" × 17", corresponding to a diameter of 374.65 mm and a pitch of 431.8 mm. The pitch indicates the theoretical travel per revolution without slip. The propeller has three blades and is designed for a 19-spline shaft and hub system.
Compatibility includes the Volvo Penta SX Sterndrive from 1994 as well as the OMC Cobra SX with 19 splines. This variant is left-handed and must therefore be used in an installation where LH rotation is correct. Always check the drive type, number of splines, diameter, pitch, and rotation direction before purchasing.
The propeller is supplied without the shock-absorbing hub and the coupling required for installation. The Polastorm F42 hub kit with item no. 52.586.01 is the documented separate mounting kit for Volvo SX with 19 splines. The hub kit includes a shock-absorbing coupling, thrust washer, front washer, spacer, and nut.
