This Polastorm Saltist stainless steel propeller is a three-blade, left-hand rotation propeller with a diameter of 14 3/4" and a pitch of 19". It is designed for outboards and relevant sterndrives with a 4 3/4" gearcase and utilizes an interchangeable hub system.
The Saltist series is engineered with a high rake angle, heavy cupping, and a spiral exhaust channel. This combination is developed with a focus on acceleration, bow lift, and top speed. The left-hand rotation makes this variant relevant as a counter-rotating propeller in installations where the engine or gearbox explicitly supports left-hand propeller rotation.
The propeller is manufactured from solution-annealed ASTM A890-4A duplex stainless steel. The material has a stated tensile strength of 680 MPa, yield strength of 450 MPa, elongation at break of 25%, and a hardness of 26 HRC. The alloy's chromium and copper content contributes to acid and corrosion resistance in maritime environments.
The diameter is 14 3/4", equivalent to 374.65 mm, while the pitch is 19", equivalent to a theoretical travel of 482.6 mm per revolution without slip. The propeller profile is type-equivalent to the Solas Rubex HR3 and Solas HR Titan. Documented Solas cross-references for 14 3/4 x 19" LH are 9552-148-19 and 3552-148-19. The cross-references do not document identical hub or spline conditions.
Hub kit and installation
The propeller is supplied without a central, shock-absorbing hub kit. The correct Polaflex hub must be ordered separately and selected based on engine make, engine model, year, gearcase, propeller shaft, and number of splines. Documented hub kit alternatives for the 4 3/4" platform include item no. 52.580.02/F21 for specified Mercury and MerCruiser installations, 52.580.03 for specified 19-spline Mercury/MerCruiser installations, 52.581.03/F23 for specified Yamaha installations, 52.582.06 for specified BRP, Johnson, and Evinrude installations, and 52.586.01 for Volvo SX sterndrives from 1994. A hub kit includes a hub insert, thrust washer, front washer, spacer, and nut.
The Saltist profile is recommended for engines in the 200–250 hp range, but the hp rating cannot stand alone as a basis for compatibility. Gearcase, shaft, splines, rotation direction, and hub kit must match the specific installation. The right-hand sister variant with the same diameter and pitch has item no. 52.555.03.
