Polastorm Star 3-blade duplex stainless steel propeller is a left-hand rotation marine propeller with a nominal diameter of 14" and a pitch of 19". The Star blade profile is designed for engines with a 4¾" gearcase and is recommended for engines in the 150–200 hp class.
The propeller is manufactured from ASTM A890 Grade 4A duplex stainless steel using APC (Aerospace Precision Casting) and subsequent solution heat treatment. The high chromium content of the duplex alloy provides high corrosion resistance, while the copper content contributes to acid resistance.
The material has a specified tensile strength of 680 MPa, yield strength of 450 MPa, elongation at break of 25%, and a hardness of 26 HRC. These values describe the material properties of Polastorm stainless steel propellers and are not an individual load rating for the propeller.
The nominal diameter is 355.6 mm, while the pitch corresponds to 482.6 mm per theoretical revolution. The propeller is left-hand rotation, also referred to as LH, and must therefore be used on an engine or drive configured for this direction of rotation. It must not be used as a random replacement for a right-hand rotation propeller.
The propeller is supplied without a central hub and propeller nut kit. A separate engine-specific Polastorm hub kit must be selected based on engine make, engine model, year, gearcase, propeller shaft, and number of splines. The hub kit includes the necessary mounting solution with propeller nut, thrust washer, front washer, spacer, and nut.
The profile corresponds to the Solas New Saturn and Solas Rubex NS3, but this is a reference to the propeller family and blade profile, not a specific Solas part number. Final compatibility depends on the specific engine and drive configuration as well as the chosen hub kit.
