Polastorm Star propeller in duplex stainless steel is a 3-blade, right-hand rotation engine propeller with a diameter of 14″ and a pitch of 21″. It is intended for engines from 115 hp with a 4¾″ gearcase, while this propeller family is recommended for engines in the 150–200 hp range.
The propeller is supplied without a central hub and without propeller hardware or shock-absorbing inserts. An engine-specific hub kit must therefore be purchased separately and selected according to engine make, engine model, propeller shaft, number of splines, and gearcase. The interchangeable hub design makes it possible to adapt the propeller to various engines and sterndrives using the correct hub kit.
The propeller is manufactured from ASTM A890 Grade 4A duplex stainless steel using APC precision casting. The material's high chromium content contributes to corrosion resistance, while the casting method provides a dense and physically strong construction for high-horsepower propulsion systems.
The Star profile corresponds to the Solas New Saturn and Solas Rubex NS3. The size 14 x 21 indicates a diameter of 14″ and a pitch of 21″. The right-hand rotation version is the standard variant; the separate left-hand rotation sister variant is marked 14 x 21L.
Relevant 4¾″ hub kits include, among others, item no. 52.580.02 for Mercury with 15 splines, 52.580.03 for Mercury with 1¼″ shaft and 19 splines, 52.581.03 for Yamaha 150–300 hp with 15 splines, 52.582.06 for BRP/Johnson/Evinrude 200–225 hp with 15 splines, and 52.586.01 for Volvo SX sterndrives with 19 splines. The hub kits are not included, and the specific choice must always be based on the engine and drive specifications.
When selecting a propeller, diameter and pitch must be evaluated together with gear ratio, boat type, load, and the engine's operating RPM. A stated power range is therefore not in itself a guarantee of the correct propeller choice.
