This C-Tug R kayak and canoe cart from RAILBLAZA is a detachable transport cart for kayaks, canoes, and similar small vessels. This version comes with two puncture-free SandTrakz wheels and has a maximum static load capacity of 80 kg.
The individually adjustable hull rails are 500 mm long and can be positioned according to the hull profile. The distance between the rails can be adjusted from 242 to 368 mm, while non-slip rubber pads protect the hull and help keep it stable. The cart supports the hull from the outside and therefore does not require mounting through the kayak's scupper holes.
The compressible outer zone of the SandTrakz wheels increases the contact surface under load and reduces the tendency for the wheels to dig into soft sand. The wheels are also designed for hard and smooth surfaces. Each wheel has an outer diameter of 313 mm and a width of 91.4 mm.
The construction consists of UV-stabilized ABS, acetal plastic, nylon plastic, and UV-stabilized Santoprene elastomer, as well as stainless steel-reinforced axles. The cart is assembled and disassembled without tools using snap-and-click connections. Disassembled parts can be stored in most kayak and canoe hatches, and the adjustable, foldable kickstand facilitates loading without assistance.
The included 38 mm tie-down strap has a total length of 2.8 m and consists of a 1.2 m strap and a 1.6 m strap with an aluminum buckle. The delivery also includes two crossbeams, two hull rails, two rail bases, two SandTrakz wheels, a kickstand, four D-washers, and mounting bolts and nuts.
Compatibility
The cart is designed for wide and complex hull profiles, including pontoon and cathedral-style hulls. Official model fitment includes Bonafide SS, SS107 and SS117, Hobie Pro Angler 12 and 14, Hobie Outback, Hobie Compass, NuCanoe Unlimited, Ocean Kayak Topwater, Wilderness Systems Recon, Old Town Salty PDL, and the 2021 Hobie Oasis Tandem. It is not compatible with Native Watercraft Slayer models or the Old Town Sportsman PDL 106 and PDL 120. The cart must not be used for transporting people.
Use and maintenance
The wheels are pushed onto the axles until the locking pin clicks into place. The kickstand must face away from the direction of travel so that it can fold away upon contact with an obstacle. After use in saltwater, sand, or dust, the cart should be disassembled and rinsed with fresh water, especially around the axles. Avoid solvents, prolonged storage in strong sunlight, and sustained load on the SandTrakz wheels. The warranty against manufacturing defects is 2 years on the SandTrakz wheels and 5 years on other parts.
