This Ritchie SuperSport flush-mount compass, model SS-5000, is a magnetic marine compass with a 5" blue compass card, black housing, and black mounting flange. It has been developed and tested for offshore racing boats and demanding use in high-performance powerboats.
The flat PowerDamp Plus compass card has a nominal diameter of 127 mm and extra-large white numerals, making the heading easy to read. A skirt around the compass card reduces oscillation, while DirectiveForce magnets and heavy-duty steel pivots and jewels contribute to quick and smooth stabilization on course.
An internal gimbal system stabilizes the compass during heavy rolling and pitching. Built-in compensators make it possible to correct for local magnetic deviation. The model is designed to be repairable and comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
The integrated green LED lighting is powered by 12 V and provides illuminated reading in dark conditions. The blue, open compass card combines high visibility with clear white degree markings.
The compass is flush-mounted into a dashboard or steering console. It requires a 159 mm cutout hole, while the bolt circle is 177.8 mm. The maximum outer diameter over the mounting flange is 191 mm, the lower housing is 157 mm in diameter, and the height above the mounting surface is 62 mm. The dimension drawing specifies the depth below the mounting surface as 4¾" / 126 mm. Mounting hardware is included.
When mounting, the compass's centerline must be placed parallel to the boat's centerline and oriented forward toward the bow. The recommended hole for the light wire is 4.8 mm and should be drilled before the large mounting hole is cut.
Documented accessories include the LL-C protective cover, 5G-0043 mounting gasket, and 5G-0108 mounting template. The green 12 V LED spare kit GM-0087 XSP is intended for the standard lighting in this model.
