This Ritchie Venture SR-2 bulkhead compass is a magnetic navigation compass for bulkhead mounting on sailboats. The black compass housing features a blue CombiDial card with a diameter of 3¾″ (94 mm), which can be read from both the front and above. The compass is designed for heading indication on sailboats from 16 to 35 ft (4.88-10.66 m).
The compass card has 5° graduations on both the front and the top. The front is numbered every 30°, while the top features cardinal letters at 45° intervals. Orange lubber lines at 0°, 45°, 180°, and 315° support clear heading reading from various positions in the cockpit.
The compass is equipped with blue LED night lighting for 12/24 V and is supplied pre-wired for lighting. The compass card is supported by a custom sapphire jewel bearing and a hardened steel pivot, while DirectiveForce magnets contribute to fast and stable heading indication. The construction is fully field-serviceable, and the product is made in the USA with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
The housing measures 154 mm in width and 164 mm in height, with a front depth of 64 mm. Mounting is performed with four 6 mm holes on a 131 mm bolt circle, and the hole for the light wire is 4.75 mm. The compass can be mounted on vertical or aft-sloping bulkhead surfaces with an angle of up to 40°. Use mounting template BK-0022 at the correct 1:1 scale and check the compass against the bulkhead before cutting.
A front cover is included. A compensator is not included, but the SR-CM2 can be purchased separately and provides up to 15° of compensation. Other documented parts and accessories include mounting gasket BK-0021, front cover BK-19-C, rear cover BK-0020, blue LED replacement lighting SH-0243 ASY, and clinometer INC-45. Adapter plate BK-0034 can be used when replacing a Ritchie Helmsman HV-76 or HV-77.
The location must be checked for local magnetic deviation before final mounting is performed. The compass centerline must be mounted parallel to the boat's centerline, and non-magnetic mounting hardware should be used around the compass.
