This Riviera Artica 2¾" boat compass is a magnetic marine compass in the BA2 configuration with bracket mounting. This variant features a gray housing, a blue compass card, and rear-reading. It is intended for navigation in boats at both conventional and high speeds.
The flat compass card has a visible diameter of 70 mm and a white scale with 5° increments. Internal semi-gimbal suspension stabilizes the card, while the integrated anti-glare screen improves readability under changing light conditions. The built-in 12 V LED night lighting emits blue light.
The compass features built-in, manually adjustable magnetic compensation. The mounting location must be positioned as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects. After installation, the compass must be compensated by a qualified professional. The compensator screws are accessed through the lower transverse holes and must be adjusted with a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The BA2 model measures 135 mm in total width across the bracket and has a maximum height of 128 mm. The compass is supplied calibrated for magnetic zone A. The compass fluid is Shell Sol D70, and an elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the fluid within the stable temperature range from −30 °C to +60 °C.
Exterior cleaning should be performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Filling plugs and other screws must not be loosened, and opening or unauthorized repair is discouraged. The product can be serviced and repaired, but repairs must be performed by Riviera. Class B Artica compasses are type-certified according to the MED Directive 2014/90/EU; an individual MED certificate must be ordered with the compass and is not documented as included with this variant.
