Riviera Artica 2¾″ magnetic compass in the BA3 version is a liquid-damped steering and navigation compass for pedestal mounting on motorboats and sailboats. This variant has a black housing, a black compass card with white 5° graduations, and integrated 12 V night lighting.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 70 mm and is suspended in an internal gimbal, which supports stable reading during the boat's movements. The compass also features a red lubber line, an anti-glare screen, and built-in, manually adjustable magnetic compensation.
The BA3 model is mounted horizontally on a console, instrument panel, or deck using the integrated compass pedestal. The maximum outer diameter is 133 mm, and the total height is 109 mm. The mounting location should be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving masses of iron or steel.
The two wires for the night lighting are connected to a 12 V system after the system voltage has been verified. After installation, the compass must be compensated by a qualified professional. The compensator screws are adjusted using a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The compass is filled with petroleum-based Shell SolD/70 liquid. An elastic diaphragm absorbs volume changes in the liquid and prevents bubble formation within the liquid's documented temperature range of −30 °C to +60 °C. Filling screws and plugs must not be loosened.
Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The compass is balanced as standard for magnetic zone A. The manufacturer's warranty is 3 years from the stamped production date and assumes correct installation, use, and service.
