This Riviera Artica 2¾″ marine compass in the BA2 version is a magnetic boat compass with bracket mounting, a black housing, and a black compass card. The model is intended for marine navigation on sailing and motor boats, including high-speed boats, and features rear reading.
The compass card has white markings with 5° graduations as well as a white lubber line, which provides a clear course reading. The visible compass card diameter is 70 mm, corresponding to the series' nominal size of 2¾″. An anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections when reading in daylight.
The internal semi-cardanic suspension allows for movement of up to 35° and helps stabilize the compass card when the boat is moving. Built-in, manually adjustable compensators allow for the correction of local magnetic deviation after installation.
The compass has built-in 12 V LED night lighting with blue light. Before connection, the boat's system voltage must be checked. The mounting location should be chosen as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects, and final compensation should be performed by a qualified professional using a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The total width across the bracket is 135 mm, and the total height is 128 mm. The upper compass and housing section has a height of 110 mm. The compass is supplied calibrated as standard for zone A. The internal liquid is Shell Sol D/70, and an elastic membrane compensates for liquid volume changes at temperatures from −30 °C to +60 °C. Filling plugs and sealing screws must not be loosened.
The compass is manufactured in Italy and designed to be serviceable and repairable. Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The manufacturer's warranty is 36 months from the manufacturing date stamped on the flange. Individual MED certification can be ordered together with the compass but cannot be issued after delivery.
