Riviera Artica Slim 2¾″ magnetic flush-mount compass is a compact marine compass for horizontal, flush mounting in decks, steering consoles, or other horizontal panels. This BA1 Slim variant features a black housing and a black, front-reading compass card designed for direct reading from the side or from a position above the line of sight. The compass is suitable for sailing yachts and motorboats, including high-speed craft.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 70 mm and is graduated every 5° with white markings. A red lubber line makes it easier to read the current heading. Internal semi-gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass card, while the built-in manual magnetic compensation allows for the correction of interference from the boat's magnetic fields. An anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections when reading.
The transparent outer shell is made of polycarbonate with resistance to scratches, impacts, and UV radiation. The construction is also resistant to oils, solvents, and maritime weather conditions. The compass contains the petroleum-based compass fluid Shell Sol D/70. An elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the fluid, and the fluid has a proven stability range from −30 °C to +60 °C.
The compass has a maximum outer diameter of 109 mm over the flange and a total height of 106 mm. The recessed housing has a diameter of 82 mm and requires 55 mm of clearance depth below the flange. Mounting is performed in a main cutout of Ø85 mm. The two Ø2 mm mounting holes are placed on a Ø95 mm bolt circle.
The built-in blue LED night lighting connects to 12 V. Check the voltage before connection. The compass should be mounted as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects. After installation, compensation must be performed professionally; the compensator screws must only be adjusted with a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The model is standard calibrated for geographic zone A and is manufactured in Italy. An MED certificate according to Directive 2014/90/EU can be ordered with the product, but is not included as standard and cannot be issued after delivery. Clean the compass with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Repairs should be performed by Riviera to maintain product safety and warranty. The manufacturer's warranty is 36 months from the manufacturing date on the flange.
