Riviera Astra BAS1 4" overhead compass is a magnetic, front-reading steering compass for flush mounting in the ceiling above or in front of the helm station. This standard version features a black housing and black compass card and is intended for recreational vessels, yachts, and workboats.
The overhead mounting utilizes space that often otherwise goes unused and clears up area on a helm station with screens, control panels, and electronic instruments. The placement also allows for mounting the compass further away from components that can create magnetic interference.
The 4" compass card has a visible diameter of 100 mm, direct reading, red lubber line, and graduation every 5°. An internal gimbal system and universal balance stabilize the reading, while the anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections. The compass also features built-in magnetic compensation.
Integrated blue LED night lighting for 12 V DC makes the compass card readable in the dark. This standard version should not be confused with the high-speed version with item no. 25.040.01, which is intended for speeds over 25 knots. A standard version with a white housing is available as item no. 25.040.02.
The compass has a maximum outer dimension of 168 mm and an overall height of 122 mm. The nominal cut-out diameter is 126.3 mm, the installation depth above the mounting surface is 58 mm, and the compass protrudes 64 mm below the mounting surface. For installation, the URANIA BU3 – ASTRA BAS1 mounting template should be used.
The construction is manufactured and handmade in Italy and is designed to be repairable. The product comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
