Riviera handheld sighting compass with soft housing in the Mizar BM model is a compact magnetic compass for handheld sighting, navigation on small boats, and use as a spare or emergency compass. This version features a grey housing, black compass card, and a fixed ring.
The compass provides direct front reading as well as top reading, allowing the heading to be checked from different angles. The visible compass card has a diameter of 1 7/8″, corresponding to approx. 48 mm, and the movement is liquid-damped with a pivot/jewel suspension.
The soft, rubber-coated housing is shockproof and protects the compass during active use. The floating construction means that the compass can float if dropped in the water. A neck strap is included so it can be carried securely and kept within reach.
The Mizar BM measures 80 × 60 × 23 mm and is suitable for surfing, windsurfing, dinghies, and other small boats. The compass requires no electrical connection or fixed installation and can therefore also be stored as a supplementary navigation compass on board.
