Riviera hand-bearing compass with soft housing in the Orion model is a floating, magnetic bearing compass for handheld navigation. The yellow, impact-resistant design is suitable for surfing, small boats, smaller vessels, and as an emergency or backup compass on board.
The compass features both front and top reading, as well as sighting marks for bearings. The Orion model is equipped with an external, rotatable graduated ring that can be used as a course and memory ring, as well as a luminescent compass card, making the markings easier to navigate by in low-light conditions.
The compass card has a visible diameter of 1 7/8″ and moves on a needle/pivot suspension. The floating design means the compass can stay on the water's surface if dropped overboard, while the soft housing provides a secure grip and protection against impact during daily use.
The Orion measures 103 × 70 × 27 mm and comes with a lanyard, so the compass can be worn accessibly around the neck. It requires no fixed mounting and can therefore be used as a personal hand-bearing compass or stored as a mobile emergency compass.
