This Riviera Pegasus BP1 3″ bulkhead-mount magnetic compass is a magnetic navigation compass for sailboats. This variant has a white housing and a red compass card, and is intended for frontal reading when vertically installed in a bulkhead, console, or instrument panel.
The compass has a visible compass card diameter of 80 mm, 5° graduation, and internal gimbal suspension. The built-in inclinometer shows the boat's heel, while manual magnetic compensation allows the compass to be corrected after installation. The anti-glare shield supports clear reading under changing light conditions.
The integrated LED lighting makes the compass card readable in the dark. The voltage configuration must be checked against the boat's mains voltage before connecting the two LED wires. The compass liquid is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C, and an elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid and prevents bubble formation within this temperature range.
Installation requires a panel hole of Ø116 mm. The four mounting holes are Ø2.5 mm and positioned on a bolt circle of Ø126 mm with 90° spacing. During installation, remove the protective cover and the front flange, then mount the compass according to the drill template, and reattach the flange and cover.
The mounting location must be chosen as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous parts. After installation, the compass must be compensated by a qualified professional. The compensator screws are adjusted with a non-magnetic screwdriver, while filler plugs and other screws must not be loosened.
Rear housing and protective cover are included. A documented spare cover is available as item no. 25.020.20; the manufacturer number for the cover is 60.03272.10. The compass is cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The construction is repairable, but repairs must be carried out by the manufacturer. The product is manufactured in Italy and has a 36-month manufacturer's warranty from the date of manufacture, subject to the stated warranty terms.
