This Riviera 4″ magnetic compass for flush bulkhead mounting is the Pegasus BP2 variant with a white housing and a red, conical compass card. This liquid-filled marine compass features front reading, a 100 mm visible diameter, and 5° graduations.
The compass is equipped with internal gimbal suspension, a built-in inclinometer, and manual magnetic deviation compensation. The anti-glare shield supports clear reading, while LED lighting makes the compass card visible when sailing in the dark. The lighting is rated for 12/24 V, but the installation voltage must always be checked against the label on the supplied compass before connecting it to a 24 V system.
The front measures 145 mm in width, the total height is 162 mm, and the installation depth is 90 mm. Flush mounting requires a Ø137 mm cutout. The four mounting holes are Ø2.5 mm and are located on a mounting circle of Ø146 mm.
The compass bowl is made of glass-fiber reinforced nylon, while the spherical dome is made of polycarbonate. The compass liquid is Shell Sol D 70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid and prevents air bubbles within the specified temperature range.
The mounting location must be placed as far as practically possible from electronics, magnetic fields, and moving ferrous parts. After installation, the compass must be compensated using a non-magnetic screwdriver and subsequently checked regularly, especially after changes to the boat's electrical system.
A rear cover and protective cover are included. The product has manufacturer number 62.00773.04, and a documented replacement cover is available under item no. 25.020.19. The construction is repairable with original spare parts and carries a 36-month warranty from the date of manufacture, provided it is installed and used correctly. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water, and do not open filler plugs or compass screws.
The BP2 design has MED type certification according to, among others, ISO 1069:1973, ISO 25862:2019, and IEC 60945:2002. An individual MED certificate must be ordered together with the compass and is therefore not necessarily included in a standard delivery.
