This product is a Riviera BP2 4″ bulkhead-mount magnetic compass in the Pegasus design, featuring a white housing and a blue compass card. It is intended as a steering and navigation compass for vertical bulkhead or dashboard mounting and features direct front reading and a visible compass card diameter of 100 mm.
The compass has internal gimbal suspension, an integrated inclinometer, and 5° graduation. The red lubber line makes it easier to read the course, while the anti-glare shield reduces distracting reflections. The built-in LED lighting provides blue light and is rated for 12/24 V. Always check the voltage rating on the specific unit before electrical connection.
The front diameter is 162 mm, the rear body diameter is 136 mm, and the total front-to-back dimension is 145 mm. Installation requires a cutout of Ø137 mm. The four mounting holes are Ø2.5 mm and positioned on a Ø146 mm pitch circle with 90° between the holes. The mounting depth is 90 mm.
Installation and compensation
The compass must be mounted as far as possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects. The included drilling template is used for installation. The cover is removed first, after which the front flange is carefully released through opening K1. After fastening, the flange and cover are pressed back into place. The built-in manual compensation is adjusted through the lower transverse openings with a non-magnetic screwdriver. After installation, the compass should be compensated by a qualified professional.
The compass fluid is Shell Sol D70, and an elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the fluid. The stable temperature range is −30 °C to +60 °C. Filling plugs and other screws must not be loosened; only the compensation screws are intended for adjustment. The construction is repairable, but repairs should be performed by the manufacturer to maintain warranty and safety.
Rear housing and protective cover included. A spare cover is available as item no. 25.020.19, corresponding to manufacturer number 60.03259.00. The compass is manufactured in Italy and has a 3-year warranty from the date of manufacture on the flange. A MED/SOLAS Wheelmark certificate can only be provided if ordered with the compass; the item must not be considered certified without an individual certificate.
