Riviera Polare BP2 4″ bulkhead-mounted magnetic compass is a liquid-filled marine compass for vertical installation in bulkheads or instrument panels. This version features a black housing, a red compass card, and direct front reading. The visible compass card measures 100 mm, and the 5° graduations provide a clear course reading.
The internal gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass card during vessel movement. The compass also features a built-in clinometer, a red lubber line, an anti-glare screen, and a manual compensation option. The design is intended for both standard vessels and high-speed boats.
The compass has a front diameter of 162 mm and a total depth of 145 mm. The rear housing measures 136 mm in diameter, while the mounting depth behind the mounting plane is 90 mm. Installation requires a panel cutout of Ø137 mm and four Ø2.5 mm mounting holes on a Ø146 mm bolt circle spaced at 90° intervals.
The integrated LED lighting is designed for 12 V. A 24 V version is available as a separate option, but the standard version is not documented as automatic 12/24 V dual-voltage. A rear cover, protective cover, and mounting template are included.
The compass should be mounted as far as practically possible from magnetic fields, moving ferrous objects, and other sources of magnetic interference. After installation, the compass deviation should be checked and professionally compensated. Compasses are balanced according to geographical usage zone, and the correct zone should therefore be verified when used outside the intended region.
The compass fluid is petroleum-based Shell SolD/70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. Cleaning should be performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water, and the filling screws must not be loosened. The construction is fully repairable, but repairs must be carried out by Riviera. The product is manufactured in Italy and comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty according to current warranty terms. An MED-certified version according to Directive 2014/90/EU can be ordered separately with the compass; the standard version is not automatically MED-certified.
