Riviera Urania BU2 4″ magnetic compass with compass housing is a magnetic steering compass in the standard version for marine navigation on yachts up to 10.5 meters. The compass is designed for pedestal or surface mounting on a flat console or instrument panel.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 100 mm and a graduation of 5°. The BU2 features rear reading with a red lubber line, internal gimbal suspension, and built-in manual magnetic compensation. The anti-glare shield improves readability and is repairable.
The compass has 12 V LED lighting with a blue illumination color. The compass fluid is Shell SolD/70, and an elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the fluid to prevent bubble formation within the temperature range of −30 °C to +60 °C.
The external dimensions are Ø157 × 176 mm, while the upper housing measures 150 mm in width. For mounting, the compass is removed from the compass housing, after which the housing is secured through four mounting holes with the included screws. The mounting location should be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields, moving ferrous objects, and other magnetic disturbances.
After installation, the compass must be compensated by an authorized professional. The two LED wires should only be connected once the system voltage has been checked. The compensation magnets should not be adjusted by inexperienced persons.
Clean the compass with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Filling plugs and sealing screws must not be loosened. The compass is designed to be repairable and has a 36-month warranty from the date of manufacture, provided it is installed and used correctly. A canvas protective cover with manufacturer no. 62.00063.01 is available as a documented accessory.
