This Riviera White Star 6″ high-speed magnetic compass with pedestal is model B6/W4 for marine navigation on motorboats and high-speed crafts. The liquid-filled compass features a black housing, a flat black card, a red lubber line, and rear reading with 5° graduations.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 150 mm. Internal gimbal mounting stabilizes the compass during boat movement, while the built-in manual magnetic compensation allows for correction of local magnetic influences after installation. An anti-glare screen supports clear reading under varying light conditions.
The compass features blue LED lighting for 24 V. The compass liquid is the petroleum-based Shell Sol D/70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for liquid volume changes and prevents bubble formation within the specified temperature range.
The B6/W4 is mounted on a flat surface in the integrated pedestal. The pedestal is secured through four mounting holes with the included screws. The product measures 230 mm in total height, 224 mm across the compass and binnacle, and 234 mm across the mounting base. The compass should be placed as far as possible from electrical equipment, magnetic fields, and moving ferrous objects. After installation, the magnetic compensation must be performed by an authorized professional.
The compass is magnetically balanced for zone A as standard. DM 586/200 approval is included, while RINA and MED certification can be provided upon request. An individual MED certificate must be ordered together with the compass and cannot be issued after delivery.
The construction is manufactured in Italy and is fully repairable. Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Filling plugs and screws must not be loosened, except for the compensator screws, which are intended for adjustment. Repairs must be carried out by the manufacturer to maintain warranty and safety. The warranty period is 36 months from the production date under the applicable warranty terms.
