Riviera White Star 6″ magnetic flush-mount compass B6/W3 is a high-speed steering compass for fast motorboats and other high-speed vessels. The compass is designed for horizontal flush mounting in a console or dashboard and features a black housing and black compass card.
The flat compass card has a visible diameter of 150 mm, 5° graduation, and rear reading. A red lubber line makes the heading clear, while the anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections. Internal gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass, and the built-in magnetic compensation can be adjusted manually after installation.
The integrated LED lighting is designed for 24 V and has a blue light color. The lighting is connected via two wires. Always check the vessel's voltage before electrical connection.
The compass has a maximum outer diameter of 220 mm, a total height of 230 mm, and an installation depth of 140 mm. The lower mounting part measures Ø167 mm. Installation requires a cutout of Ø165 mm and four Ø2 mm mounting holes located on a Ø211 mm bolt circle.
The mounting location must be chosen as far as practically possible from magnetic fields, electrical and electronic equipment, and moving parts of ferrous metal. After installation, the compass must be compensated using a non-magnetic screwdriver. The compass is supplied as standard balanced for Zone A; Zone B or C must be specified when ordering and set during manufacturing.
The compass fluid is Shell Sol D/70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for fluid volume changes and prevents bubble formation within the temperature range. The compass is hand-assembled in Italy and designed to be repairable. Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water, and sealed plugs and screws must not be opened.
The White Star series is covered by MED 2014/90/EU, while an individual MED certificate and RINA type approval must be ordered separately together with the compass. The manufacturer number for this black high-speed variant with 5° graduation is 62.00100.01.
