This Riviera Zenith 3" flush-mount compass with telescopic anti-glare cover is a magnetic marine compass for horizontal, flush mounting. The AV variant features direct front reading, a black compass card, and a black housing. The design is intended for both low and high speeds, including speeds above 25 knots.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 80 mm and a 5° graduation. A red lubber line allows the vessel's heading to be read directly. The compass has internal gimbal suspension and built-in manual compensation, allowing the display to be adjusted after installation. The standard version is calibrated for balancing zone A.
The telescopic anti-glare cover shields the compass card and improves readability under changing light conditions. The integrated LED lighting connects to 12 V and allows for reading in the dark. The vessel's voltage must be checked before connecting the LED wires.
The largest external diameter at the cover and flange is 152 mm, while the total height is 131 mm. The depth below the mounting flange is 65 mm, and the lower flush-mount housing has a diameter of 89 mm. The primary circular mounting cutout is Ø 95 mm, supplemented by a side cutout of 9 × 12.5 mm. The accompanying drilling template should be used for positioning screw and cable holes.
The compass must be mounted as far as possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects. After mounting, manual compensation must be performed professionally and in accordance with applicable maritime regulations. The compensator screws are adjusted with a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The compass liquid is petroleum-based Shell Sol D/70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid and prevents bubble formation within the temperature range. Filling plugs and other screws must not be loosened. Cleaning is performed with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The Zenith series is manufactured in Italy and is designed so that the compass can be repaired by the manufacturer.
Zenith compasses in class B are type-certified in accordance with MED 2014/90/EU. If an individual MED certificate is required, this must be ordered at the same time as the compass and cannot be issued after delivery.
