The Riviera Zenith 3″ magnetic boat compass, model BH2/AV, is a bracket-mounted navigation compass for high-speed boats. This high-speed variant features a front-reading compass card, a black compass card, and a black housing. The apparent compass card diameter is 80 mm.
The compass card is graduated every 5°, while the internal gimbal system stabilizes the compass during the boat's movements. Built-in manual compensation allows for correction of magnetic deviation after installation. The compass also features an anti-glare screen to support clear reading.
The integrated LED lighting is powered by 12 V and makes the compass suitable for reading in the dark. Always check the boat's system voltage before connection. The compass should be placed as far as possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects, and compensation after installation should be carried out professionally using a non-magnetic screwdriver.
The bracket-mounted compass has an overall width of 155 mm, a maximum overall height of 147 mm, and a stated body height of 122 mm. The series is recommended for boats up to 8 m, and the BH2/AV is specifically designed as a high-speed version for fast boats.
The compass uses Shell Sol D70, a petroleum-based compass fluid with a proven temperature range from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic diaphragm compensates for volume changes in the fluid and prevents bubble formation within this temperature range. Filling plugs and other screws must not be loosened; only the compensator screws are intended for adjustment.
The Zenith 3″ is designed to be repairable and has a 3-year warranty from the date of production, subject to the applicable warranty terms. The compass is type-approved according to the Italian Ministerial Order 388 of September 29, 1999. Zenith compasses in Class B, except for the BZT model, are certified according to the MED Directive 2014/90/EU, but an individual MED certificate must be ordered together with the compass and cannot be issued after delivery. Clean the housing with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water.
