Riviera Zenith 3" magnetic compass BH3/AVB is a liquid-filled marine compass with binnacle for navigation on boats up to 8 m. This high-speed version features a front-reading blue compass card, white housing, and integrated 12 V LED lighting.
The compass has a nominal visible compass card diameter of 80 mm, while the compass card itself measures 57 mm. The card is graduated in 5° increments. The internal gimbal suspension stabilizes the compass system, and the elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid to prevent bubble formation at temperatures from −30 °C to +60 °C.
The compass system is built with two magnets and integrated manual compensation with four compensation magnets. The anti-glare hood shields the compass card and improves readability. The inner bowl is made of nylon/fiberglass, while the spherical dome is made of polycarbonate.
The binnacle model has external dimensions of approx. Ø127 × 124 mm. It is secured with four mounting holes, and mounting screws are included. The compass must be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and moving ferrous objects. After installation, compensation must be performed by a qualified professional.
The LED lighting is connected to the boat's 12 V system via two wires. Check the voltage before connection. The cross-shaped parts in the binnacle carry the compensation magnets and must not be adjusted by unauthorized persons.
The compass is designed for full repairability and has a 3-year or 36-month warranty from the date of manufacture according to the applicable warranty conditions. Cleaning should be done with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. Filling plugs and other sealing screws must not be loosened. The series is type-approved according to Italian Ministerial Order 388 of September 29, 1999. An individual MED certificate must be ordered with the product if required.
