Riviera Zenith 3″ bracket mount magnetic compass in model BZ2 is a magnetic steering compass for sailboats and motorboats. This standard version features a black housing, a black flat compass card, and a visible dial diameter of 3″/80 mm.
The compass is front-reading and features a 5° scale graduation along with a red lubber line, making it easy to read the boat's heading. The internal gimbal suspension keeps the compass card stable, while the anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections. The built-in manual compensation allows for correction of magnetic influences after installation.
The integrated blue LED lighting is powered by 12 V and allows for reading in the dark. The compass measures 155 mm in total width across the bracket and 147 mm in total height. The bracket can be mounted on a horizontal, slanted, or vertical surface, allowing the viewing angle to be adjusted to the helm station.
The mounting location should be chosen as far as practically possible from magnetic fields, moving ferrous parts, and other equipment that could affect the compass. After mounting, the compass must be compensated, and the adjustment should be performed by a professional using a non-magnetic screwdriver. The supply voltage must be checked before connecting the LED wires to the boat's electrical system.
The compass is supplied as standard balanced for geographic zone A, which mainly covers the Northern Hemisphere. The compass liquid is petroleum-based Shell Sol D70 and has a stability range from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for volume changes in the liquid and prevents bubble formation within this temperature range.
The design is manufactured in Italy and is 100% repairable. Cleaning should be done with a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. The warranty period is 36 months from the manufacturing date stamped on the product. Individual MED certification is not automatically included with the standard product and must be ordered together with the compass.
