This Riviera Zenith 3" magnetic marine compass BH3/AV is a liquid-filled navigation compass with pedestal mounting and direct front reading. The high-speed version is intended for fast boats and is recommended for boats up to 8 meters. This variant has a black compass card and a black housing.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 80 mm (3") and clear 5° graduations. The compass is internally gimbaled and has built-in manual magnetic compensation. The anti-glare screen reduces distracting reflections when reading from the helm.
The integrated 12 V LED lighting makes the compass card readable in the dark. The lighting is connected with two wires, and the boat's supply voltage must be checked before connection. The compass's total external width is 127 mm, the height is 124 mm, and the approximate product weight is 0.72 kg.
The compass is mounted fixedly at the helm. The pedestal is secured through four mounting holes with the included screws. The mounting location should be placed as far as practically possible from magnetic fields and movable ferrous objects. After installation, magnetic compensation must be performed by a qualified professional.
The compass liquid is petroleum-based Shell Sol D/70 and is stable from −30 °C to +60 °C. An elastic membrane compensates for liquid volume changes and prevents bubble formation within the temperature range. Filling plugs and internal screws must not be loosened; only the compensator screws are intended for adjustment.
The Zenith compass is type-approved in accordance with Ministerial Order 388 of September 29, 1999, and is manufactured in Italy. The model is designed to be repairable, and the warranty period is 36 months from the production date stamped on the flange. An individual MED certificate must be ordered with the compass and is therefore not included automatically.
