This Riviera Zenith 3″ bracket-mount magnetic compass, model BZ3/AV, is a high-speed version for navigation on motorboats and other fast vessels. The compass features a flat, black compass card with an 80 mm visible diameter, a black housing, and clear 5° graduations. The series is recommended for boats up to 8 meters.
The magnetic compass operates independently of GPS signals, thus providing an autonomous heading reference on board. The red lubber line makes it easier to read the boat's direction, while the anti-glare screen limits distracting reflections around the compass card.
The internal gimbal suspension helps the compass card remain horizontal when the boat rolls or pitches. An integrated manual compensation system makes it possible to correct local compass deviations caused by electrical installations, electronic equipment, or metal parts on board. Compensation should be performed by an authorized professional after installation.
The compass features 12 V LED lighting for reading in poor light conditions. Before connection, the boat's voltage must be checked. The bracket is secured through four mounting holes with the included screws, and the mounting location should be chosen as far as practically possible from magnetic fields, electrical equipment, and moving ferrous objects.
The housing has a diameter of 127 mm, and the total height is 124 mm. The construction is fully repairable, and new compasses are covered by a 3-year warranty. For cleaning, use a soft cloth dampened with fresh water. A protective cover with manufacturer no. 62.00064.01 can be used as an accessory but is not included.
The compass is type-approved according to Italian Ministerial Order 388 of 29 September 1999. MED/SOLAS Wheelmark certification is a separate order option and is not automatically included with this standard variant.
